We are working in a coalition led by the Partnership for Community Action (PCA) to establish a baby bond, a program designed to narrow the racial wealth divide by ensuring every child starts with a solid foundation.
A baby bond is a substantial monetary contribution invested by a government on behalf of children. Over time, the funds become sufficient for a significant asset purchase in adulthood, such as home ownership, post-secondary education, and small business start-ups.
Baby bonds would assist future generations of families who have historically been excluded from policies that help build wealth, including Black, Latinx, and Native American families.
