The Southwest Women’s Law Center is seeking dedicated leaders to join our Board and help drive our mission forward.

As a board member, you’ll play a vital role in advocating for gender equity, supporting the rights of women and families, and guiding our strategic vision to create lasting change in New Mexico.

If you’re passionate about justice and community empowerment, this is your opportunity to lead with purpose.

The mission of the Southwest Women’s Law Center (“SWLC”) is to create opportunities for women in New Mexico, so they realize their full economic and personal potential.  Since our inception in 2005, we have worked to eliminate gender bias, discrimination, and harassment; to lift women and their families out of poverty; and to ensure all women have full control over their reproductive lives through access to comprehensive reproductive health services and information. We seek to advance the well-being, rights, and power of women in New Mexico through legal research, policy analysis, advocacy, community and stakeholder education, and coalition work at the local, state, and national levels.

Do you align with our values and want to give back to the community? The SWLC is recruiting new board members! Board of Director Duties Include:

  • Maintaining fiduciary oversight to assure that the organization is fiscally sound and that funds are used lawfully and consistently with grant requirements.
  • Reviewing the annual audit and 990.
  • Providing general support to the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and the staff of the SWLC.
  • Attending general Board meetings, typically held six times per year, with the possibility of additional meetings if called by the Board Chair.
  • Participating in fundraising activities on behalf of the SWLC.
  • Attending and participating in strategic planning for the organization at least every other year, or as planned by the Executive Director.
