Looking for an experienced Organizer/Advocate to help the Southwest Women’s Law Center to do advocacy on Paid Family and Medical Leave on a part-time and consultant basis. This is 20 hours per week. This can begin immediately through 3/15/23.
The Southwest Women’s Law Center has been working in Coalition on getting a statewide Paid Family & Medical Leave passed at the NM Legislature. We need a self starter, motivated and energetic person to join our team. These are some of the tasks:
- Engage with businesses and communities on Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) policy in the state of NM (urban, rural and tribal areas)—In person or via phone/zoom
- Work with a small team on behalf of the SWLC
- Draft scripts, one pagers,
- Do presentations on PFML
- Talk one on one with individuals about PFML
- Attend meetings, town halls, forums, events and provide information about PFML
- Recruit businesses to attend legislative hearings and or meetings with legislators
- Prepare speakers for public comment for legislative hearings
- Assist and organize with the PFML press conference during the legislative session
- Do some tabling at public events
- Help with Visibility
- And help the PFML team as needed on other tasks.
To be successful, this person should have access to a vehicle, laptop, cell phone and internet.
